From March through May, HandsOn will recognize hundreds of local volunteers, many of whom serve in their Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, as well as those volunteers that are nominated from their partners for a Governor’s Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service.
April is Jazz Appreciation Month and also National Poetry Month. Go out and see a performance this month to celebrate jazz and poetry at a coffee shop, library, restaurant or venue of your choice. It doesn’t matter where, but go!
Susan Meny, Vital Living Director of the Shepherd’s Center, connected students with seniors to teach them about technology – one-on-one. The first Tech Buddies was so successful that Susan plans to hold another one on April 2 from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Shepherd’s Center.
Come out the first two Saturdays in May and experience the fun at two local Scottish Highland Games events. Enjoy bagpipe bands, highland dancing, and highland athletics – like an old-fashioned country fair.
The Garden Club Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County is hosting Beyond the Garden Gate, a tour of nine private gardens in our community, on April 30.
