Give the Gift of Volunteer Service this Holiday Season

American Red Cross needs volunteers!

You can make a difference in your community by volunteering with Red Cross!

Volunteers carry out 90 percent of the humanitarian work of the American Red Cross to support its mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering. These volunteer opportunities are a great fit for seniors wanting to give back to their community:

Blood Services Transportation Volunteer.

As a volunteer Transportation Specialist, you can make sure blood is available for patients in need in North Carolina. Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Transportation Specialists deliver lifesaving blood to hospitals. Become a transportation specialist today and gain a sense of purpose and empowerment by knowing you are helping save lives. Shifts originate out of Winston-Salem and weekday routes are available. Volunteers will need a valid driver’s license, a good motor vehicle record, and must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Disaster Services Volunteer.

These volunteers are trained to respond to the scene of a disaster, including home fires, to deliver Red Cross services. Disaster volunteers ease the difficulties of people unexpectedly overwhelmed by disasters. You would be called on to engage with clients, first responders, and the public.

Volunteers can also choose to be involved in

Preparedness Education

Client Casework

Disaster Assessment

Mass Care

Government Operations

Licensed health services and mental health volunteers are also engaged to support disaster clients.

Give the gift of time this holiday season. Volunteer and make a difference in your community.
