Spring Fashions Feature: Greens & Corals
By Judie Holcomb-Pack
According to the news, the famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, did not see his shadow, predicting an early spring. With Easter on March 27, it’s time to pack up those winter sweaters and start shopping for warm weather fashions. I recently stopped by Fraleigh’s in Clemmons to see what they are “predicting” as the hot colors for this year.
According to the sales team of Linda Miller and Linda Posey, greens, corals and grays are the colors to wear this year. Straight-leg pants with tunic tops will continue to be popular. Seafoam green is particularly stylish, as well as geometric prints for tops and tunics. For shoes, wedges are a great choice to complement any look.
Black and white are still popular choices, especially when accented with bright, colorful jewelry, such as turquoise or coral. Ladies are choosing tote bags and larger purses, making it easy to carry essential needs, including a cell phone, iPad, or even lunch.
For 35 years, Fraleigh’s has remained a popular women’s boutique where fashion-savvy sales associates still offer personal service. Donna Merriman, co-owner with her mom, Mary Bingham, said that owning Fraleigh’s “is a childhood dream come true.” She had always wanted to be in the apparel business and had worked at clothing stores since she was 15. When she told her mother about her dream, she offered to help her get started and together, they opened Fraleigh’s in 1981. The name comes from Mary’s middle name, Frances, and Donna’s middle name, Leigh, thus Fraleigh’s. They carry ladies clothing from mother-of-the-bride dresses to blue jeans in sizes from 2 to 20, as well as shoes, handbags, jewelry and scarves. Their trained staff also offers personal service to help customers put together a complete outfit, including accessories.
Pack those winter clothes away and get ready for warmer weather with a trendy new look in the hot colors for 2016. Top it off with a funky new hat and you’ll be all set for Easter, too.
