There are several ways you can serve as a Red Cross volunteer. Below are two opportunities that are perfect for seniors looking to help out in the community.

Be a Blood Donor Ambassador.

As a Blood Donor Ambassador, you will provide excellent and enthusiastic customer service to enhance the blood donor experience. You will engage with blood donors to promote donations and set the stage for a long-term commitment to regular blood donations. Ambassadors welcome and greet donors, ensure blood donors have relevant information, and create a favorable impression of the Red Cross and the blood donation process. Volunteers model excellent customer service, attend to donors in the hospitality area, set up and maintain cleanliness in reception, and hospitality.

Be a Blood Services Transportation Specialist.

As a volunteer Transportation Specialist, you can make sure blood is available for patients in need in North Carolina. Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Transportation Specialists deliver lifesaving blood to hospitals. Become a transportation specialist today and gain a sense of purpose and empowerment by knowing you are helping save lives. Shifts originate out of Winston-Salem and weekday routes are available. Volunteers will need a valid driver’s license, a good motor vehicle record, and must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
